Exciting news for the Sea Turtle Foundation (STF) with the announcement of the continuation of a three way partnership between the Queensland Government, STF, and the Marine Turtle Strandings Volunteer Network for the conservation of marine turtles throughout Queensland.
We’re thrilled to share an exciting update about the Marine Turtle Strandings Volunteer Network in Queensland. The Queensland Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) has recently renewed its partnership with the Sea Turtle Foundation to manage the day-to-day operations of the Marine Turtle Stranding Network and their vital work.
STF brings years of experience and leadership in partnering with volunteer organisations to provide marine turtle conservation. Our expertise in supporting volunteers ensures the Network will continue to thrive in the future.
Under this partnership, STF will:
- Respond to volunteer enquiries and provide ongoing support
- Deliver engaging turtle standing training programs online and in person across Queensland
- Maintain accurate data in the QWildlife database for timely reporting
- Publish biannual newsletters to keep everyone informed and connected
- Manage requests for volunteer equipment and resources
STF would like to acknowledge the continued investment by DETSI in improving the skills and capability of the volunteer groups that make up the Marine Turtle Strandings Volunteer Network.
